Austin brought in a guest chia plant today.  It spent the day soaking up the sunshine!  Duck Dynasty watchers might recognize the face.

Reading:  This wekk students started reading a variety of fictional books related to Vermont history.  Students are focusing in on the characters, plot and setting, as well as making connections to our Vermont unit of study.

Math:  Students have their unit 6 assessments with them today to share with you.  Attached to the back is the unit preassessment.  It was amazing to see the progress they made.  We will begin a new unit on fractions on Monday.

Writing:  We’re wrapping up our unit on narrative writing.  Students will be writing their assessment piece next week.  We have worked hard at adding descriptive details, building  plot, including conversation, and creative ways to begin and end a story.

Social Studies:  The students really seem interested in Vermont history.  We discussed the Revolutionary War period and the role of Vermonters.

Valentine’s Day:  The students had a note with them last Friday – not sure if everyone read it.  We will exchange Valentine’s on Friday and have a special snack – making smoothies.  I have had 2 parents respond to sending in items: we have straws, cups and juice – let me know if you would like to send in an ingredient.  Thanks!

Have a fun weekend!
